Beach Bums

This past weekend we headed down to Delaware to visit Grandma & Grandpa Lyons.  The babies didn't make a peep (seriously, not one) the entire ride down.  It was a tough drive, raining the whole way, after a long week.   Zeke tagged along for this trip.  He was a perfect gentleman in the car too.  He was looking forward to visiting with his canine cousin, Brayleigh.

On Saturday we visited Shaun's Grandma.  She loved visiting with Tommy and Lily.  They were the hit of the assisted living facility once again.  While we were there, we gave Grandma Shall a new nickname - Gigi.  She is a great-grandmother and her first and middle initials are GG.  It was meant to be!  After our visit, we strolled the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk.

The babies took it easy on Sunday.  Shaun had to drive back up to New Jersey for a viewing.  The babies, their grandparents and I enjoyed a quiet day.  Gigi spent the day with us again.  Uncle Paul and Brayleigh came over for dinner.  Lily and Tommy were introduced to the IPhone.  Lily was truly taken by the device...again her love for lights took over.

Monday we went to a beautiful park in Ocean City.  While the guys (not Tommy, just the big guys) went fishing in the evening, Grandma Lyons and I took the babies into Bethany Beach for some shopping, another stroll on the boardwalk and the babies first experience on a sandy beach (well, they never left their stroller but their stroller was in fact on the sand).  It was a beautiful night with very low humidity.  Lily spent most of the trip yelling DaDaDaDaaaaDaDaDaDaaaaa to the passersby and to her brother.  Boy, does she have a set of lungs on her.  I am surprised Shaun couldn't hear her calling for him fishing all the way out on the Indian River.

Tuesday we headed home.  We had the babies 6 month check-up scheduled for that night.  This ride was easier in the sense that it was daylight and not raining.  However, both babies had long bouts of fussiness (read- crying).  The four hour trip seemed eight hours long.  We finally made it home with just enough time to feed the babies before their big check-up.

We were grateful to be able to spend a long weekend with Grandma & Grandpa Lyons.  July is an incredibly busy time for me at work (our fair is right around the corner) but it is also an amazing time to enjoy the beautiful Delaware beach towns.  It was great to get away and to enjoy a nice weekend with our family.  We hope to get another trip to DE in during the summer.  We still have to get put the babies toes in the sand for the first time.
