Nine Months!?!?!?!

Wow! Our babies turned 9 months old. They have been alive nearly as long as they gestated. Mind blowing, isn't it? From conception to walking (well, barely walking- more like teetering) in 18 months time.   Then again many animals walk the day they are born. Growing up on a dairy farm, I had the chance to witness the first steps of many newborn calves. While watching a newborn calf take her first stumble is exciting, the thrill of seeing Lily and Tommy do just about anything is breathtaking.

On September 30th, Shaun's parents and I took them for their 9 month check up. They are doing great and growing well. Here are their new stats:

Tommy weighs 21 lbs 4 oz (75th percentile) and is 30 inches long (95th percentile).

Lily weighs 19 lbs 6 oz (55th percentile) and is 27.5 inches long (75th percentile).

Current developmental highlights:

Lily is teetering around. She is a daredevil and takes a step or two without holding on. She is a pro at cruising along the furniture.

Tommy is now getting into a sitting position on his own...by way of a Russian split. He can pull himself up in his crib and to the sofa (although he isn't sure about how to sit back down). He can hold his bottle on his own- with one hand (he has his Grandpa Everett's paws). He is very vocal although we can't make much out beyond Momma and Dadda.

Both babies are exhibiting possessive behavior- Tommy over their rocking cow and their 'ten little ladybugs' book, Lily over anything that has Tommy's attention.

They amaze us with their growth and abilities each and every day. And we amaze ourselves with the overwhelming love, joy, and pride we feel for them each day.
